Our history

It was in 1946 that Giovanni Maria Bertini, father of Italian Ibero-Americanism, founded this biannual magazine. For decades, the “Quaderni Ibero Americani” magazines have been used as a tool to investigate literature and intercultural routes. This magazine discusses the multiple facets of the worlds of the Iberian, Spanish and Portuguese languages that are used in the Iberian Peninsula as well as in Latin America and Lusophone Africa. Amongst the long standing collaborators of the “Quaderni Ibero Americani”, we count many Nobel Prize Winners such as Gabriela Mistral, Pablo Neruda, Miguel Angel Asturias, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Camilo José Cela, Vicente Aleixandre, poets including Dámaso Alonso and intellectuals such as Benedetto Croce and Ramón Menéndez Pidal. The magazine continues to honour this illustrious tradition, counting among its employees the most renowned specialists of Iberian Studies from more than forty universities worldwide.
